Suryakumar Ashok Yadav was born in 1990 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. He spent a good part of his childhood in the streets of UP, where he used to play gully cricket with his friends. Since a child, he was good and playing cricket and loved sports and therefore, started practising at the Dr. Sampurnandan Sports Stadium, situated in Varanasi. His paternal uncle Mr. Vinod Kumar was a coach here. But, as he turned 10, his family decided to move to Mumbai, which answers the question of why his father used to work in Mumbai. Moving to Mumbai did not stop him from playing cricket and he continued practising. His father was the one who recognized his talent and got him enrolled in Elf Vengsarkar Academy. This was quite a popular cricket academy, run by former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar. But, before getting fully into cricket, he had a tough decision to make. As Suryakumar was good at both Badminton and Cricket, his father said him to choose one sport and that’s when he chose cricket. He did his schooling from the Atomic Energy Central School in Mumbai and after that he enrolled in the Atomic Energy Junior College of Mumbai. He used to play for the age-group cricket when he was 12 years old and soon after this he became part of the cricket team of the Parsi Gymkhana Cricket Club of Mumbai.
