The Stadium’s expected capacity is around 30,000 which is constructed as it could be expanded to 40,000 in future. And here are the facilities which are going to be implemented in the ground.

  • Nine Practice Pitches: To provide enough space for the players to prepare before the match.
  • Advanced Drainage System: To ensure quick start of the game if rain interrupts the game.
  • Outdoor Ground: Additional ground just beside the main stadium for practice and holding events.
  • VVIP and VIP Zones: The special seating area of the stadium is plan to be on the second floor of the south pavilion.

The Varanasi Cricket Stadium is a significant investment in the region’s sport infrastructure.

  • Land Acquisition: The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated ₹121 crore to acquire the 30 acre land for the stadium.
  • Construction Cost: The estimated cost of the Stadium is around ₹330 crore after the completion. Which is aid by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Foundation Ceremony

On 23 September, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Varanasi Cricket Stadium. Many cricketing legends like- Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and more attended the ceremony to celebrate another milestone in the journey of Indian cricket.
