IPL started in 2008 with 8 teams playing the tournament. And not long after it started the image of IPL got scars of spot-fixing. 2012 and 2013 were the seasons where this all began. This post will go through all of the spot-fixing incidents in IPL till now. And the last section will be about the title of number one fixing team in IPL history.
Initial Incidents Of Spot-Fixing (Number One Fixing Team In IPL History)
The first case of spot fixing came to light in 2012. BCCI banned ‘TP Sudhindra’ for lifetime over fixing charges, he used to play for ‘Deccan Chargers’. Along with him four other players were also suspended.
After the incident Pune Warriors India’ player Mohnish Mishra, was caught in a sting operation. He stated that IPL franchise owners pay the player fees through the black money. Later, he denied the statement he gave in the sting operation.
Next year 2013, ‘Delhi Police’ arrested Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan and S. Sreesanth on the allegations of spot-fixing. Later they were given lifetime bans from the BCCI.
Match Fixing Events Scattered IPL’s Reputation
After these year by year allegations of spot-fixing in IPL, damaged the reputation of the tournament. Many capped players’ involvements made it more complex for the BCCI to handle the situation. Finally, ‘Supreme Court of India’ appointed the Lodha Committee to investigate the spot-fixing cases in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings And Rajasthan Royals Banned For Two Years 2016 & 2017
IPL season 2013 was one of the darkest pages in the history of IPL. Lodha committee led by former Chief Justice R M Lodha. In 2015 the committee submitted their report with evidence which led to two years ban on ‘Chennai Super Kings’ and ‘Rajasthan Royals’.

Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested on the same date when CSK played the final against MI in the 2013 edition, Accused for spot fixing.

Rajasthan Royals’ owner ‘Raj Kundra’ was accused of similar charges as Meiyappan.

Ms Dhoni’s Statement On Match Fixing
Ms. Dhoni didn’t give any statement initially after the whole incident. But, he broke his silence on the2013 fixing scandal. He stated that there were no players involved in the fixing. So, “why do the players have to suffer?”. He added that it was his most difficult and depressing phase of his life.
In The End The Title Of Number One Fixing Team in IPL History
Deciding which team holds the title of number one fixing team in IPL history is difficult. Because only Chennai super kings and Rajasthan Royals got banned in the history of IPL. And both of the teams have similar conditions. But, as far as the players’ involvement comes in then, surely Rajasthan Royals holds the title of number one fixing team in IPL history. Because S. Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila used to play for Rajasthan Royals.
