Ranji Trophy
Ranji Trophy a domestic first-class cricket tournament played in India. The BCCI has organized the Ranji Trophy every year since 1934. The Teams here participate and represent their states and regions. Currently, a total 38 teams are participating In Ranji Trophy every year including all 28 states and 8 union territories. In the beginning the Tournament was known as “The Cricket Championship of India”. But, in 1935 it was renamed as ‘Rajitinji’, The First cricket player from India Played International matches for England.
History
The first match of Ranji Trophy was played on 4 November of 1934. Madras and Mysore played the match against each other at the Chepauk Stadium in Madra (Currently in Chennai). And Mumbai have been the most successful team in the history of this tournament by winning 42 titles.
Ranji Trophy 2024-2025
Ranji Trophy 2024-2025 was started from 11 October, 2024. The first match of the tournament was washed out without a ball bowled. In the first session of the game 16 teams competed from 11-14 October. Where 6 matches were drawn and one match was abandoned and 9 matches had certain results. After the first session of the tournament, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Services are on the top of the table in their groups after winning their first match.
