Start of New Journey — IPL career

• In 2013, Sanju earned his debut when the Rajasthan Royals brought him on board, stepping in as a replacement for wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik, who was still sidelined by an injury.
• He was the winner of the Best Young Player award in the same IPL season. In 2014 and 2015, Sanju was retained by the Rajasthan Royals. 
• Later in 2016, Sanju was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 4.2 crore.
• On April 11, 2017, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune, he scored his first IPL century against the Rising Pune Supergiants. 
• In the 2018 IPL auction, Sanju was once again acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8 crore. 
• In the 2019 IPL, Sanju hit an undefeated 102 off 55 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes, to record his second IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

First breakthrough in the T20 International career

• On August 5, 2014, Sanju was named as a backup wicketkeeper for India’s upcoming 5 matches ODI series against England. Despite this inclusion, he did not make an appearance in any of the matches.
• Even though Samson was regularly called up to the national team, he never made it into the starting lineup until 2015, when he made his debut against Zimbabwe in Harare.
• In October 2019, he earned a spot in India’s squad for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Bangladesh. 
• When Shikhar Dhawan suffered an injury in November 2019, he was once again called up to represent India in the T20I series against the West Indies. 
• Subsequently, he earned his spot as an opening batsman in the playing eleven for India’s T20I series against New Zealand.
