Sam Konstas, one of the most controversial names over internet & sports media recently. And all of that started from the 4th test of BGT 2024-2025. With his quick fifty in the debut match, Konstas impressed everyone. Especially his ramp shots against ‘Jasprit Bumrah’, he was the only player to hit sixes on Bumrah’s bowls in the test series. Sam Konstas, an Australian cricketer with exceptional hitting ability. He recently made his debut in international cricket against India in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Konstas became the centre of attraction for cricketing news portals after his verbal encounters with Indian players, including- Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli & Jasprit Bumrah in recent matches. Career Highlights

In July 2023, Sam Konstas was selected for the Australia’s U19 squad against Australia. But, he didn’t get the chance to debut for Australia in U19 cricket.

Sam Konstas first-class cricket debut for New South Wales against Tasmania in ‘Sheffield Shield season 2023-2024’. He has no highlights from his first season in Sheffield. But, In the next edition Sam Konstas scored his maiden century in first-class cricket against South Australia. He scored 152 runs in 241 deliveries. Konstas continued to impress in this match by hitting another century in the second innings and became the youngest player in Sheffield Shield to score centuries in both innings of the match.

On 19 November, 2024, Konats made his List A debut for New South Wales against South Australia in ‘One Day Cup 2024-2025’.

After having a great season in Sheffield Shield, Konstas got selected for Australia A team to play against India A. in the second unofficial test, Konstas scored 73* not out in the second innings and brought victory for the team.

Konstas continued to move forward with his cricketing performances. He got selected for ‘Prime Minister XI’ for the match on 1 Dec, 2024 against India A. In the game of 45 overs per side, Konstas scored 107 runs off 97 balls including 14 fours & a six.

On 20 December, 2024, Konstas made his T20 debut for Sydney Thunder in ‘Big Bash League’. In his debut match, Konstas hitted the fastest half-century for Sydney Thunder in Big Bash League history. He completed his fifty in just 20 balls with eight fours and 2 sixes.

On 26 December, 2024, Konstas made his International cricket debut against India in the 4th test match og BGT 2024-2025. Konstas was the replacement of ‘Nathan Mcsweeney’ who wasn’t in form. He entered the field and started to play his unorthodox ramp shots against the most fierce bowler of the series ‘Jasprit Bumrah’. He just took 52 deliveries to his maiden half-century in internationals. And enlisted his innings as the 3rd fastest half-century by an Australian debutant in a test.

Sam Konstas’s Controversies in BGT 2024-2025

Here we are mentioning all the controversies related to Sam Kontas from BGT 2024-2025. And added Sam’s perspective which he disclosed in an interview.

Bumped by Kohli’s Shoulder

In debut match Sam Konstas came in the spotlight for two reasons, first one was his ramp shots against Bumrah and the second one for the moment When Kohli’s shoulder bumped him. Later, Virat Kohli was found guilty by ICC for breaching ICC code of conduct. For his inappropriate behaviour, Kohli was charged a fine of 20% of match fees and deduction of 1 demerit point by the match officials.

Passing Comments During Jaiswal’s Innings

The Next day of the test, When India came to bat, Jaiswal opened for India. And when he got his rhythm, Konstas started to comment from a silly point while he was focusing on the ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal opposed his behaviour and said “Why he’s talking”. However, it’s an old tactic of Australian cricket to break the focus of batters from the game.

Annoying Bumrah from Non-Striking End

In the last Test match in Sydney, India got all-out early. Australia came to bat when few overs left for the stumps of day 1. And Australia didn’t want to lose any early wickets. So, Khwaja started killing the time by unnecessary activities like- setting up his pads again and again. Bumrah at bowlers started to get annoyed by Khwaja. He complained to Umpire about it, but Kontas interfered which started a fight between both players. But, Bumrah took his revenge by picking up Khwaja’s wicket on the last ball of the over.

Kohli & Pant Mocked Konstas in Last Test Match

On the next day of the 5th test, Konstas was on strike and Bumrah had a bowl in his hand. Pant made a remark by saying “Konstas ab ni lag rahe kya shots”. Along with Pant, Kohli added “Bumrah there you got your man”.Konstas managed to survive that over but in the next over Mohammad Siraj got him in the slips.

Konstas Talked About his Fight with Bumrah

Later Konstas admitted his mistake in an interview. He said it was his fault that Khwaja got out. Khwaja was trying to buy some time. But he provoked Bumrah, which led to the fall of Khwaja. Konstas appreciated Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling performance.
