Winner of the Series- Australian Cricket Team

Test Match 1- 29 January, 2025 at Galle, Sri Lanka

Australia Innings: The Australian Cricket Team won the toss and decided to Bat first. They set a Big target of 654 runs with 6 wickets in 154 overs. They took DRS and decided to end their Innings and played only one innings. Usman Khwaja became the Top Scorer and man of the match by scoring 232 runs off 352 balls. Mathew Kuhnemann  (5 wickets giving off 63 runs in 18.2 overs in 1st Inning and 4 wickets giving off 86 runs in 17.3 overs)  and Nathon Layon (3 wickets giving off 57 runs in 20 overs in the 1st innings and 4 wickets giving off 78 runs in 19 overs in the 2nd Innings) became the prominent Bowlers in both the Sri Lankan’s Innings and refrained Sri Lanka to chase them. The Australian team also won the Match.

Sri Lanka Innings: The Sri Lanka Cricket Team were second to bat and they had a massive pressure to chase the run scored by Australia. Despite playing Two Innings they failed to chase the runs and lost to the Australian Cricket Team.

1st Innings- In the First Inning The Sri Lankan Team scored 165 runs with all wickets down in 52.2 overs. Dinesh Chandimal became the Top Scorer by making 72 runs in 139 balls. Bowlers like Prabath Jayasurya ( 3 wickets giving off 193 runs in 60 overs) and Jeffrey Vandersay (3 wickets giving off 182 runs in 38 overs) became the key bowlers. Due to the runs made by Australia, the Sri Lanka Team became very pressurized. 

2nd Inning-  In the Second Innings the Sri Lanka Team had a bad start, the two openers got consecutively out and the team was fully bowled down at 247 runs in just 54.3 overs. Jeffrey Vandersay, the all rounder player of Sri Lanka became the Top Runner for the team and scored 53 runs in 47 balls. Followed by Angelo Mathews, who scored 41 runs off 59 balls. Unfortunately Sri Lanka was able to make a total of 412 runs that was still less than Australia’s 654 runs Target leading to their Loss against Australia in the First Test match.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Team won the toss and decided to Bat first.

1st Inning:

In the First Inning they set a target of 257 runs with all wickets down in 97.4 overs. Kusal Mendis became the not out Top Scorer by scoring 85 runs off 139 balls. Followed by Dinesh Chandimal who scored 74 runs off 163 balls. Prabhat Jayasurya (5 wickets giving off 151 runs in 38 overs) and Nishan Peiris (3 wickets giving off 94 runs in 31 overs) became the prominent Bowlers in the First Inning against Australia.

2nd Inning:

In the Second Inning Sri Lanka made a score of 231 runs with all wickets down in 68.1 overs. In this Inning Angelo Mathews became the top Scorer by making 76 runs off 149 balls. Followed by Kusal Mendis who scored 50 runs off 54 balls. Prabhat Jayasurya (1 wickets giving off 20 runs in 6 overs) and Nishan Peiris (0 wickets giving off 34 runs in 8 overs) became the prominent Bowlers. Unfortunately even after making a total run of 488 runs, they could not win the Match and lost against Australia.

Australia Innings

The Australian Cricket Team were the second to bat.

1st Innings- In the First Inning The Australian Team scored a very hefty run of 414 with all wickets down in 106.4 overs. Alex Carey became the Top Scorer by making 156 runs in 188 balls. Followed by Steven Smith who made 131 runs off 254 balls. Bowlers like Mathew Kuhnemann (3 wickets giving off 63 runs in 33.4 overs) and Mitchell Starc (3 wickets giving off 37 runs in 16 overs) became the key bowlers in the First inning against Sri Lanka.  

2nd Inning-  In the Second Innings, the Australian Team were back by only 75 runs and had to chase very less runs. Usman Khwaja became the Top Runner for the team and scored 27 runs in 44 balls and remained not out. Leading to a score of 75 runs off 1 wicket in 17.4 overs and the Final Score of 489 runs. Followed by Marnus Labuschagne, who scored 26 runs off 39 balls not out. Recently Sri Lanka and Australia have played against each other in a ODI Match series held in Sri Lanka. The match was very Exciting. Sri Lanka defeated Australia in both the matches and won the trophy in the Series. 

ODI Match 1: 12 February, 2025 at Colombo, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Innings: The Sri Lankan Cricket Team won the toss and decided to Bat first. They set a target of 214 runs with all wickets down in 46 overs. Charith Asalanka became the Top Scorer and Man of the match by making 127 runs off 126 balls. Followed by Dunith Wellalage who scored 30 runs off 34 balls. Maheesh Theekshana (4 wickets giving off 40 runs in 9.5 overs) and Asitha Fernando (2 wickets giving off 23 runs in 5 overs) became the prominent Bowlers who refrained Australia in chasing the runs scored by them.

Australia Innings: The Australian Cricket Team were the second to bat. However they were Bowled out at 165 runs in 33.5 overs. Alex Carey became the Top Scorer by making  41 runs in 38 balls.
