‘Hayley Matthews’ West Indies Women’s skipper won the toss and invited India Women to bat first.
India Women
India lost their first wicket on the last ball of the first over of the game. After Uma’s dismissal ‘Smriti Mandhana’ took the charge in her hands, with Jemimah Rodrigues she added 98 runs in team’s total. In the 11th over Jemimah got lbw on the ball of ‘Afy Fletcher’. Raghvi continued the flow of runs for India. Till the end of the 15th over Smriti also departed after playing a sensational innings. ‘Richa Ghosh’ came and started hitting the balls from the start. Richa completed her record half-century in just 18 deliveries. And after her dismissal Raghvi and Sajana gave a good finish to India’s innings.
West Indies Women
West Indies showed patience from the start, But ‘Sajeevan Sajana’ was able to create an opening for India in the 4th over. Following Sajana, ‘Radha Yadav’ also picked up skipper ‘Hayley Matthews’. After Hayley’s dismissal West Indies lost their rhythm and started losing wickets. In the 15th over India eliminated ‘Chinelle Henry’ who seemed to be a threat. And comfortably won the match with a huge margin.

Jemimah Rodrigues was the top scorer of the match with 73 runs off 35 balls. West Indies failed to chase the target, even after playing 20 overs. From India Titas Sadhu took 3 wickets and India easily won the first match of the series.

2nd T20I Match 17 Dec, 2024
In the second match West Indies continued to be lucky again, inviting India to bat first. India was only able to score 160 runs in 20 overs. Other batters except Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh failed to impress. In the West Indies’ innings their captain Hayley played the lead role by scoring 85 runs off 47 deliveries. West Indies comfortably won the match in the 16th over and leveled up the series.
