In the first test match of the series, Zimbabwe decided to bat first after winning the toss. And their decision of first proved to be right after Zimbabwe scored 586 runs in the first innings. Sean Williams and Brian Bennett hitted centuries. But, when Afghanistan came to bat, they surprised everyone with their unbelievable batting performance. Afghanistan scored 699 runs in their first innings and took 114 runs over Zimbabwe. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah scored double centuries, creating an iconic moment in Afghanistan cricket history.

2nd Test, 2-6 Jan, 2025 (Harare Sports Club)
In the second match of the series, Zimbabwe continued to be lucky and invited Afghanistan to bat first. Afghanistan team totally scattered in front of Zimbabwe’s bowling attack. Zimbabwe wrapped up Afghanistan’s innings on 157 runs. Zimbabwe comfortably made a 86 runs lead by putting 243 runs on board.
Afghanistan made a comeback in the 2nd innings, they scored 363 runs. Rahmat Shah and Ismat Alam scored centuries. Zimbabwe got 277 runs to chase. But, Afghanistan’s bowling attack did a splendid job. They restricted Zimbabwe on 205 runs and secured the victory by 72 runs.

In the second match of the ODI series, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik built a tremendous partnership for the 1st wicket. Sediqullah scored a century and Afghanistan got 286 runs on board.

Zimbabwe was in a tough chase. And Afghanistan bowlers made it impossible for them. They started to pick the wickets from the 1stt over. By the end of the 18th over Zimbabwe got all out on the score of 54 runs. Afghanistan secured a huge victory over Zimbabwe in the second match.
3rd ODI 21 Dec, 2025 (Harare Sports Club)
In the 3rd match of the ODI series, Afghanistan invited Zimbabwe to bat first after winning the toss. And again, Afghanistan’s co-ordinated bowling attack destroyed Zimbabwe’s batting line-up. Zimbabwe only able to score 127 runs. Allah Ghazanfar was the top wicketer from Afghanistan’s side by picking a 5-wicket haul.
The Target was low and Afghanistan nailed it perfectly. Openers nearly chased down the total. After their dismissal captain Hasmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah led Afghanistan to an easy win.

In the first match of the T20I series, Afghanistan decided to bat first after winning the toss. But, their top order completely collapsed. By the end of the 11th over, Afghanistan lost 5 wickets on the score of 58 runs. Then Karim and Nabi rescued Afghanistan from there. Afghanistan was able to set a 145 runs target.
In comparison with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe’s batting line-up seemed well balanced. Brien Bennett and Dion Myers added valuable runs in the chase. However, Afghanistan bowlers tried to add a twist in the match. But, Zimbabwe won the match on the last ball of the match.

2nd T20I 13 Dec, 2025 (Harare Sports Club)
In the second match of the T20I series, Again Afghanistan decided to bat first after winning the toss. And again, Afghanistan’s top order failed to impress. Darwish Rasooli balanced Afghanistan’s innings by hitting a half-century. Further Azmatullah and Gulbadin added valuable runs in total.
When Zimbabwe came to chase, Afghanistan started their coordinated bowling attack. They took wickets after regular intervals which totally pushed Zimbabwe on backfoot. Afghanistan bowled out Zimbabwe in 18 overs and secured the win by 50 runs.

In the third match of the T20I series, Afghanistan invited Zimbabwe to bat first after winning the toss. In the front of Afghanistan’s bowling attack, Zimbabwe’s batters kept losing their wickets and were only able to put 127 runs on board. Rashid Khan was the top wicket taker with 4 wickets.
Afghanistan’s top order again failed to perform, till the 7th over they lost 4 wickets on the score of 44 runs. Azmatullah and Gulbadin saved Afghanistan from this stage and built a strong partnership. Nabi gave finishing to the chase and Afghanistan won the series along the match.
